Environmental, Social and Governance Statement

This statement sets out the responsible business priorities of The Upgrade Authority. It is not an environmental certification and it does not claim that the group is carbon neutral. We will only publish measured environmental results when we have a defined baseline, period and method behind them.

Environment

Our immediate priority is to identify practical ways to reduce avoidable waste in day to day operations. Areas for review include printing, travel between property visits and the energy implications of planned maintenance. We will not claim a reduction until it has been measured against a defined baseline.

We have not yet published a group carbon baseline. Establishing a proportionate baseline and a repeatable way to measure progress is an objective for the next stage of the group’s growth.

People

We aim to provide fair access to work and services, make reasonable adjustments where needed and use relevant evidence when making property or employment decisions. Our public Compliance Policy explains the protected characteristics and applicant circumstances that must not drive tenancy decisions.

Property operations affect landlords, tenants, guests, contractors and neighbours. Clear terms, safe working practices and a usable complaints process are the practical standards against which this part of the statement should be judged.

Governance

The group maintains company and shareholder records, separates operational responsibilities and publishes current privacy, complaints, anti bribery and client money information. Decisions involving personal data, client money or a conflict of interest should have a named owner and a record of the evidence used.

Our software should make responsibility and source records easier to see. It does not replace professional judgement, legal advice or the controls required in the underlying property business.

Review

We review this statement as the group’s operations and evidence develop. Future claims about emissions, diversity, portfolio performance or community impact will identify the measure, period and source used.
